Activation factor X inhibitor (XaI) of macroglobulin fraction was partially purified by ammonium sulfate saturation method, gel filtration on Sephadex G-200 and CM cellulose chromatography. This XaI made good inhibition for activated factor X (Xa) at 37°C, 25°C and even 4°C. During incubation of the XaI with Xa, there was much decrease of Xa inhibiting activity of the XaI.Therefore, it was suspected that the XaI inhibited the Xa activity stoichiometrically rather than enzymatically.
