ANALYSES OF THE OPPORTUNISTIC INFECTION OF THE GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT IN ADULT T-CELL LEUKEMIA/LYMPHOMA

We analyzed 96 cases of Adult T-cell Leukemia/Lymphoma (ATL/L) to clarify the characteristic feature of opportunistic infection in cases of ATL/L. Gastrointestinal manifestations, clinical data, radiographic and endoscopic features of the G-I tract were retrospectively analyzed. Opportunistic infection of the G-I tract was histologically confirmed in seven patients. These seven patients were divided into two groups according to the background. 1. Patients in immunosuppressive state caused by chemotherapy. In this group, marked decrease in number of neutrophill was observed. 2. Patients in immunosuppressive state caused by aggresseveness of ATL/L. In this group, marked increase in number of serum ATL cells and LDH was observed.
