Neuroleptic and Analgesic Effecs of Modification of Neurolepatnalgesia (NLA) in Dogs:—Special Refecnce to Droperidol+Pentazocine and Propionyl-promazine+Pentazocine—

Experiments were performed to investigate the effects of neuroleptics and analgesics following droperidol (dro) +Pentazocine (pen) and propionylpromazine (pro) +pentazocine in nine adult mongrel dogs. These drugs were administrated intravenously. And then, clinical findings were observed. Changes in hemodynamics, blood gas tension and ECG were compared before and after administration. The results were as follows; 1. Presence of neuroleptic and analgesic effects in groups of dro+pen were better than pro+pen. 2. Systolic blood pressure (S.B.P) decreased after administration of both dro+pen and pro+pen. A decrease in S.B.P. followed an increase in S.B.P. in groups of dro+pen. However, in groups of pro+pen, S.B.P. fell but did not returned to control level. 3. Changes of QRS complex and tachycardia were observed immediately after administration in both groups, thereafter, these findings disappeared. 4. In any cases, respiratory rate increased in groups with dro+pen. In the other hand, in all cases, respiratory rate decreased in groups with pro+pen. 5. Arterial pH and blood gas tension were maintained within each normal ranges. 6. Body temperature dropped following both dro+pen and pro+pen groups. From these results, it is presumed that use of dro+pen is better than pro+pen in dogs in neuroleptic and analgesic effects.
