STUDIES ON THE INHALATION ANESTHESIA IN CATS

The clinical Studies were made in 24 cats anesthetized by the semi-closed circuit inhalation of ether, methoxyflurane, or halothane for 45 to 90 minutes. Succinylcholine chloride 0.4 mg/kg, i.m. or thiopental sodium 25 mg/kg, i.v. was used as premedication. The results are as follows : 1. Cats were intubated quite easily following the premedication with succinylcholine chloride as thiopental sodium. 2. Six methods of the inhalation anesthesia were studied, in which only methoxyflurane following the premedication with succinylcholine chloride didn't restlt in the surgical anesthesia. 3. The halothane inhalation following the premedication with succinylcholine chloride may be best of all studied, from the view-point of the anesthetic effect and the physiological reactions. 4. An special inhalation apparatus for cats should be devised instead of the infant model used in this study.
