A case report of an endometriotic cyst of the ovary with adenomatous hyperplasia.

We present a case of an adenomatous hyperplasia arising at the site of an endometriotic cyst of the ovary. The patient was a 41-year-old woman, who visited our outpatient clinic complaining of dysmenorrhea. A gynecological examination and a CT scan revealed cystic tumors at both ovaries. Postoperatively, a small papillary lesion was found at the inner wall of the right cyst. By histological examination, a benign papillary lesion was found, and classified as endometriosis with adenomatous hyperplasia.<BR>The present case indicates that adenomatous hyperplasia may arise from endometriosis of the ovary as well as from endometrium of the uterus.
