Evaluation of prognostic factors in malignant ovarian tumor.

Prognostic factors were assessed in 100 women treated for primary malignant ovarian tumor by multivariable statistical analysis using performance status as the dependent variable. It was found that the clinical stage and the size of the residual tumor after surgery are the most important factors influencing survival.<BR>We analyzed more precisely these two factors using the life-table method, and found that the significance of the size of the remaining tumor decreased with the period after primary surgery. The results show that more ;effective treatment strategies are required after surgery for patients with malignant ovarian tumor.
