The activity of aromatizing enzyme for androstenedione was investigated in human uterine endometrium and endometrial cancer tissues. The tissue homogenate (300-500mg) was incubated with[6, 7-3H]-androstenedione (385pmol) and NADPH at 37°C for 4h. in air. From the analytical methods of Bio-Rad AG1-X2 column, thin layer chromatographies and co-crystallization, estrone (E1) and estradiol (E2) isolated were as follows;E1:0-131fmol/h/g, E2;0-228fmol/h/g in normal endometrial tissues (10 cases) and E1;36sim17, 600fmol/h/g, E2;0-377fmol/h/g in endometrial cancer tissues (10 cases). These results show that estrogen synthetase activity in endometrial cancer has a tendency to be high compared with it in normal endometrium.
