Ovarian Function during Perfusion of the HumanUtero-tubo-ovarian Unit:I. Autoradiographical and Histochemical Study

Utero-tubo-ovarian units obtained from the cases of uterine tumor with normal menstrual cycle were perfused in vitro for 210min. Small divided sections of corpora lutea were obtained, following the experimental time schedule, for the autoradiographic analysis of uridine and leucine incorporation, and for the histochemical analysis of 3β-HSD, G-6-PDH, LDH, 20α-HSD, sudan black and acid phosphatase.Increased uridine and leucine incorporations were shown by the administration of hCG 3, 000 i. u. per 400ml of perfusate. Prostaglandin F2α administered 5μg per min. for 30min. caused no effect to uridine and leucine incorporation. Histochemically, hCG or prostaglandin F22α administration caused no remarkable changes.It was suggested that human corpus luteum of menstrual cycle was comparatively refractory to prostaglandin F22α, and that prostaglandin F22α might not affect the action of hCG.
