A Case of Depression Fracture of the Frontal Bone in a Dog

A 2-year-old female miniature dachshund dog was referred for hemorrhage from a frontal region of head and nasal cavity and deterioration of a general state. CT and MR images indicated the presence of depression fracture of the frontal bone and the brain to be considerably compressed and recognized a broad edema. An operation was performed extraction of the depressed fracture piece and the reconstruction of the frontal sinus. The repair of the bone and the improvement of brain compression and edema were recognized by CT examination just after the operation and MRI examination at the fourteenth day after surgery. Postoperative recovery was good, such as the normalization of menace reflection and standing at the second day after surgery. The dog has been in good physical condition for 24 months.
