The present study was conducted to determine the concentrations of sodium (Na) and potassium (K) in uterne fluid and to investigate the properties of proteins of the fluid of gilts both biochemically and histologically about the time of estrus and ovulation induced by the combined administration of PMSG and Gn-RH.1. None of the gilts victimized at 32 and 34 hours after injection of Gn-RH showed ovulation, whereas 81% of the gilts victimized at 40-43 hours demonstrated ovulation.2. The concentrations of sodium and potassium in the uterine fluid were significantly higher than those of vaginal or cervical fluid. No difference was found out in them beween the folllicular stage and the ovulation stage.3. Acidic proteins were found in the globulin fraction, while a kind of proteins was detected in the albumin fraction of the uterine fluid by its electrophoresis with a cellulose membrane.4. Acidic mucopolysaccharides were detected in the distal portion of the luminal endometrium and gland epithelium on the surface of epithelium of uterus and in the vicinity of the opening of uterine gland by staining with alucian blue.
