The stored semen was transported to 9 swine-keeping farms on rail or by farmers' cars, where each farmer carried out insemination through "treatment with warming and shaking by manual holding and shaking". Time required for transportation was 20-24 hours for railroad transportation, while it was 30-120 minutes for automobile transportation.1. With the semen by railroad transportation, 14 out of 19 (conception rate 73.7%) were fertilized, and the mean litter size was 10.9. No trend was observed that the changes in the temperature of semen during the transportation affects the conception.2. With the semen by automobile transportation, 26 out of 37 (conception rate 70.3%) were fertilized, and the mean litter size was 10.1.3. The conception rate varied with farmers from 50% to 100%. A trend was noted that the longer the storage of semen the lower the conception rate.4. The litter size varied with the sows from 2 to 23, comprising 5 sows producing 2-4 piglets, 10 sows with 6-9 piglets, and 25 sows with more than 10 piglets. The mean litter size was 10.4. No trend was noted that the longer the storage of semen the smaller the litter size.
