Using data of the study performed by Japan Hospital Pharmacist Association in June 2000, reanalysis was performed to clarify the factors affecting patient satisfaction on medication counseling and instruction by pharmacists in hospitals. Setting up 5 hypotheses, x<SUP>2</SUP> test was sequentially conducted.<BR>The results of the present study were as follows.(1) Patient satisfaction was high when patient's understanding of medication was good.(2) Patient satisfaction was high when pharmacists hung on the words of patients.(3) Patient's understanding of medication was good when pharmacists hung on the words of patients.(4) Some outcomes from medication counseling and instruction heightened patient satisfaction.(5) Kinds ofinformation requested were different between patients who received medication counseling and instruction and patients who did not receive it.<BR>To be more precise, suggestions of these findings were as follows (1) Patient better understands of thecontents about medication counseling and instruction by pharmacists is related to patient satisfaction.(2) Goodattitude to hang on the words of patients is related to patient satisfaction.(3) One of the most important outcomeson medication counseling and instruction that patients better understand the adverse drug reaction andsignificance of medication is related to patient satisfaction.(4) Patients who did not receive medication counseling and instruction had strong desire to know about adverse drug reaction, storage and management of medicine, medication influence on daily living comparing to patients who received medication counseling andinstruction.
