We compared clinical outcomes of diabetic inpatients before (n=40) and after (n=41) application of clinical pathway. Patients with diabetes mellitus having no severe complications were included in this study. HbA1c levels were used as an indicater of glycemic control. There was a statistically significant decrease (1%) in HbA1c levels in patients undergone clinical pathway at 6 months after their discharge. These patients might have learned about diabetes and gained much knowledge for keeping good life style better than those patients without clinical pathways. Length of hospitalization (LOH) of diabetic patients (n=115) was shortened to 25.7 days from 31.7 days by an application of clinical pathway.<BR>Electronic pathway (e-path), designed to include all orders in clinical pathway for diabetes mellitus, was beneficial because of completion of ordering in a few minutes on patient's admission and was useful because 5 kinds of registration were prepared to adjust for admissions of any weekday.
