Before the developing the land reclaimed by the municipal waste, which had been completed long years ago, to clear the gas permeability coefficient of waste layer under the ground is necessary for the evacuation work of gases in the waste layer, because a lot of dangerous and offensive smell gases, such as methane, sulfides and amines etc. are enclosed in the layer. But the study on this problem is very little. This experimental study is done to get the data for the prediction of gas permeability coefficient in the waste layer under the ground, for that, the relationships between the gas permeability and the water con tent or particle sizes of the packed sand layer in the column.<BR>Consequently, it was comfirmed that the change of gas permeability coefficient in the waste layer under the ground is able to estimate with the prediction formula which is derived from the results of this experiment.<BR>However, it is necessary to study about K5 and B which are unknown constants in the prediction formula, and the value of K5 would be fixed with the form and dynamic viscosity coefficient of the soil in the reclaimed waste layer under the ground, and the value of B would be varied with the action of water in the waste layer.
