A 54-year-old female with a malignant melanoma in the right nasal cavity had undergone a radical surgery, chemotherapy, and immonotherapy. There was local recurrence with the tumor occupying the right nasal cavity and bleeding easily. While chemotherapy and cryosurgery were not effective, high doses per fraction radiotherapy significantly reduced the tumor in size and resulted in good control of the bleeding.Malignant melanoma has been considered radio-resistant because of its radiobiological characteristics. However, some reports maintain that radiotherapy using the high doses per fraction technique or fast neutrons is effective. In our case, high doses per fraction radiotherapy resulted in better response than expected. Thus it was suggested that high doses per fraction radiotherapy is worth trying when treating malignant melanoma.
