We evaluated the long-term treatment results of Hodgkin's disease, which has been relatively rare in Japan. Between January 1981 and December 1992, 31 patients with histologically proven Hodgkin's disease were radically treated at our 2 hospitals. Tweleve patients were treated by radiation alone and 18 patients were treated by combined radiation and chemotherapy. Actuarial survival rates at 5 and 10 years were 90.1% and 72.8%, respectively. Relapse-free survival (RFS) rates at 5 and 10 years were both 70.1%. There were no significant difference in RFS or survival among histologic types and clinical stages. These results suggest that even in Japan Hodgkin's disease can be treated sucsessfully.
