A case of nodular fasciitis observed in a 6-year-old man is reported. He noticed an asymptomatic tumor on his left submandibular area which slowly increased in size during one-month period.Physical examination revealed a 15×25mm indurated elastic hard and smooth surface tumor with slightly oppresive pain which was not attached to the overlying epidermis with normal color, but was fixed to the mandibular bone.A histological examination showed none capsulary and infiltrative proliferation of fibroblast-like cells, mitotic figures, increased capillary vessel, extravasations of erythrocytes, multinucleated giant cell, focal mucoid degeneration, and extravasations of inflammatory cells. Tumor cells were positive for actin, vimentin and chymotrypsin, but negative for S-100 protein, KL-1 (keratin) and desmin. These histological and immunohistochemical features were consistent with nodular fasciitis.
