This paper deals with the experimental studies on film condensation of flowing pure and single component vapor on a vertical smooth surface. R-11, R-113 and R-114 are used as the working fluids. The flow patterns of the condensate film are classified into harmonic wavy flow and turburlent flow. The flow patterns of the vapor side are classified into body-forced convection, combined convection and forced convection. Nondimensional expressions of the local heat transfer coefficient are obtained for the flow patterns.
