In recent years, many authors reported about the association between antiphospholipid antibodies and recurrent spontaneous abortion including intrauterin fetal death, especially in such cases of positive lupus anticoagulant and anticardiolipin antibodies.
In this study, four pregnant women who were diagnosed as antiphospholipid antibody syndrome and one pregnant women with anticardiolipin antibodies and a history of 13times recurrent abortions, were all subjected to treatments with low-dose aspirin and heparin. Four of these five subjects successfully gave birth to live infants.
This result confirmed the usefulness of a regimen of low-dose aspirin and heparin treatments for recurrent fetal losses associated with the existence of antiphospholipid antibodies.
