A Successful Pregnancy and Delivery on the Case of Adrenogenital Syndrome with Primary Amenorrhea

• We encountered a patient complaining of primary amenorrhea, abnormal external genitalia, hypertrichosis and acne.On endoclinological and other examinations, we reached a diagnosis of adrenogenital syndrome caused by congenital adrenal hyperplasia. After partial clitoridectomy, the patient was started on glucocorticoid therapy with prednisolone 20mg per day. Dosage was gradually decreased according to the 17-KS rate in urine, and was maintained at 5mg per day.After three weeks, menarche occured and about two months later, she started a regular ovulatory cycles. Six months later, the patient became pregnant but aborted spontaneously at 17 weeks. She was conceived again 3 years later. With a 5mg per day dosage of prednisolone, she had an uneventful pregnancy and delivered a female normal baby at the full term. Succesful pregnancy and delivery is very rare with case of adrenogenital syndrome, so we reported this case with some endoclinological data and obstetrical observations
