Two electrodes with the same size and quality were implanted in the rabbit's aulicle at a distance of 20 mm. The reference electrode (the point of 0 V) was placed on the medial angle of the eye. The electrode potentials (floating potentials) were inclined to the positive side using the platinum electrodes and inclined to the negative side using the stainless steel electrodes.
When galvanized with 20 μA current, those electrode potentials increased and showed the extreme level at 3 days later when using the platinum electrode, at 1 day when using the stainless steel electrode, and soon after the starting when using the stainless steel which was attractable by the magnet.
Compared with the potential of platinum electrode, the peak level was 1/2 in stainless steel electrode, and 1/3 in stainless which was attractable by magnet. These results indicated the higher electro-conductivity of the stainless steel. At 10 days after the start of galvanizing, no changes were found on the platinum electrode, whereas the oxidized corrosion of the anode was seen on both of the stainless steel electrodes.
