On the Muddy Sediments of the East China Sea

78 samples of the sediments obtained from East China Sea were analysed mechanically and the distribution of muddy part was studied. Muddy sediments and sandy ones both distribute in the area of "SHIOME" or current rips, which occur on the mixing of three component currents in this sea, namely, the coastal, the Yellow Sea cold water mass and the KUROSHIO current.<BR>The content of muddy part on the sediments is nearly proportional to its own latitude, and the maximum value occur in the area of 70-80 m. depth. The relations of the muddy content to the ignition loss and the total nitrogen content were studied, also.
