Hemolytic gram-negative rods were isolated purely or in mixed culture from various organs of 12 of 23septic pullets and laying hens at five different investigations made from 1983 to 1995. Pathologic diagnosiswas Marek's disease for two of five cases, while the remaining three cases were of infectious coryza, chickenanemia virus infection and bacterial infection. All the isolates were identified as "<I>Actinobacillus salpingitidis</I>"/avian <I>Pasteurella haemolytica</I>-like organisms group, showing the highest sensitivity to enrofloxacin aswell as moderate and low sensitivity to penicillins and macrolide antibiotics, respectively.
