The effect of ampicillin oily suspension on the foot rot of cattle was studied.<BR>54 Holstein-Friesian cows diagnosed clinically as foot rot, in a herd developed sings of lameness, skin inflammation and swelling of fetlock joint were treated with the external application of ampicillin oily suspension (50mg/ml) individually.<BR>Ampicillin oily suspension 3-4ml day was externally applied on the surface of the open injured lesion, after the foot was cleaned, trimmed and debribed if necessary, and the foot is bandaged.<BR>After these treatment of 2-3 successive days, in all cows treated, the lameness disappeared and the open injured lesion closed and dried within 7 days.<BR>From these results, the external application of ampicillin oily suspension for treatment of foot rot in cattle seems to he effective.
