Two cases of eccrine gland nevus.

Two cases of eccrine gland nevi were reported. One of the patients who was a 53-yearold female, had noticed pigmented, slightly elevated lesion (sized 9×8mm) on the dorsal surface of the right hand since one year before. Microscopically, the lesion showed hyperplasia of eccrine glands and ducts at the deep dermis, accompanied with small arterial proliferation. The epidermis, which showed hyperkeratosis with digitated ridges, was compatible to the findings of epidermal nevus.<BR>Another was a 2-year-old boy. Three papules or nodules were first noticed on the back at birth, and gradually became enlarged and got hard hairs. Microscopically, a lesion showed hyperplasia of the eccrine sweat glands with myxomatous stroma. The stroma was stained positively by Alcian Blue and presented metachromasia by Toluidine Blue staining. Accordingly, the stroma was presumed to be composed of acid mucopolysacchrides.<BR>The present cases were hamartomatous hyperplasia of eccrine glands with that of other components of skin organs.<BR>Additionally, the other 14 case reports of eccrine nevus in Japan were summarized.
