Treatment of scalding scar, hypertrophic cicatrix and keloid with betamethasone dipropionate topical preparations (Rinderon-DP Ointment, Cream).

Eighteen cases of scalding scar, 15 cases of postoperative scar formation or hypertrophic cicatrix, and 4 cases of keloid, a total of 37 cases, were treated with Rinderon-DP Cream or Ointment containing betamethasone dipropionate. Simple applications principally twice a day resulted in 23 cases graded "fairly improved" or better (62%). As to usefulness in consideration of efficacy, side effect, etc., 29 cases were determined "useful" or better (78. 4 %). The application was continued for 1 to 9 months, 4. 8 months on the average. The total amounts of application were widely ranged from 5 to 275g per patient. Side effects were observed in 9 patients (24. 3%), including 1 case of skin atrophy, 3 cases of telangiectasia, 5 cases of itching and/or irritation, 1 case of small skin ulcer and 1 case of acneform eruption, 11 cases (aggregated) in total.
