Sediment load in a river is classified, from its transport regime, into three categories: washload, suspended load, and bed load. Since each category has a different role in the process of river geomorphic change, it is important to know sediment supply of each category. The authors conducted comprehensive measurement of sediment transport in the Hinuma River system during the flood on June, 20th-21st, 1997. This paper describes the outline of this measurement, some consideration about the source of washload in the tributary Kataniwa River and Inada River, a cause of the hysteresis between the washload flux and the discharge, deformation of the washload flux-time curve in the flow process, and the role of each sediment load category in the change of sinuosity.
