The authors have developed a pedestrian route choice model based on pedestrian's characteristics that they have a behavioral propensity to select the straight through path and they prefer to minimize the geometric angle between the straight path and the imaginary vector that connects the present location and destination. The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of this model for a route guidance system for pedestrians. Based on an experiment using a mobile phone, this study clarifies the usefulness of the model in a pedestrian route guidance system.
