Amphiphilic polyelectrolytes containing hydrophobic groups have a compact micelle-like structure in water. In this study, poly (vinylamine) s (PVAm) having alkyl groups were synthesized by the reaction of PVAm with alkyl halides. Various chracteristics of their polymer micelles formed in aqueous solution were examined by viscometry, UV-vis spectroscopy and fluorometry using three kinds of hydrophobic low-molecular probes. As a result, information on the hydrophobic environment of the micelle interior for PVAm derivatives was obtained. Then, the influence of DS and chain length of the polymer on the inclusion ability and solubilization ability of the probes became clear.
