New metallocenes having an indenyl group and a fluorenyl group as ligands serve as an olefin polymerization catalyst component. We have found that by the use of an IFZ catalyst wherein a specific substituent is introduced at a specific position of the indenyl and fluorenyl group, an olefin (co) polymer of high molecular weight can be prepared with much higher polymerization activities and an olefin copolymer of a much higher comonomer content can be obtained at a higher polymerization temperature.
