Drawing several lines on the cocoon surface, the recurrence length of a loose point of the filament to those lines is measured by reeling cocoons one by one in order to investigate both the distribution of the length of filments produced by cutting cocoons and a characteristic of spinning of silkworms. As a result of data analysis, it was shown that different races had different characteristics of distribution, and that its distribution also depended on the cut position of a cocoon. With respect to the spinning characteristic, it was shown that silkworms did not spin the constant length in the periods, during which the direction of their body changed to the opposite side and then returned to the previous one, but spin much longer in the middle and inner portion of the cocoon than in the outer portion.
