In F1 of the cross between wild type females and pe re males a translocation involving W chromosome and a Vth chromosome was discovered among pe mutants that appeared spontaneously. The translocation possessed female determining gene Fem on the W part and a fairly large part of the V ranging from +ok to +re loci or perhaps longer, but lacking +pe locus. The chromosomal constitution of this strain was found to be Z/W·V/V, in which segregation occurs between W·V and Z plus V, although disjunction failed rarely to occur between W·V and free V and resulted in the production of trisomy of the Vth chromosome, i. e. Z/W·V/V/V. A remarkable decrease was observed in the number of eggs deposited by the trisomic females which contained the translocated chromosome.
