Fractionation of haemolymph protein of the silkworm was performed by Sephadex G-150 gel filtration and DEAE-cellulose column chromatography. The results were as follows:1. Four fractions, Fr-I, Fr-II (mol. wt. about 240, 000), Fr-III (mol. wt. about 60, 000), and Fr-IV (mol. wt. about 30, 000), were obtained by gel filtration on a Sephadex G-150 column (2.6×90cm). In polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, Fr-I, Fr-II, Fr-III and Fr-IV consisted of four, six, five and two bands, respectively.2. Fr-IV was further fractionated into four components, Fr-IV-A, Fr-IV-B, Fr-TV-C and Fr-IV-D, by rechromatography on DEAE-cellulose. Each of the three components, Fr-IV-A, Fr-IV-C and Fr-IV-D, migrated as a single band on polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and SDS-gel electrophoresis.3. The determination of the molecular weights of the three components, Fr-IV-A, Fr-IV-C and Fr-IV-D, was performed by SDS-gel electrophoresis. Each molecular weight of the three components was estimated to be approximately 29, 000.
