In order to examine the remarkable line width transition observed in the nuclear magnetis resonance absorption of the solid of ethylene glycol between -113°C and -78°C, calorimetric and dielectric measurements were undertaken over a temperature range from -180°C up to its melting point.<BR>The curve of the specific heat versus temperature shows no anomaly corresponding to co-operative phenomena, but shows a drastic increase of the specific heat with temperature above -60°C, probably due to impurities in the sample.<BR>There is a small rise of the dielectric constant with temperature at about -77°C, which has been shown with evidence to be due to water in the glycol sample.<BR>The system "glycol-water" has been found to have an eutectic point at -65°C (±0.5°). Below this temperature there exist dielectric and thermal anomalys due to its unstable phase when cooled with ordinary velocities. Considering from the hygroscopic property of glycol. the line width transition in the magnetic resonance absorption is suggested to corrpond to this phenomena.
