Six enzymes of the intestinal metaplasia were investigated histochemically.<BR>Though leucine aminopeptidase activity was not found in normal gastric mucosa, marked reaction was detected in the intestinal metaplasia. The other enzymatic activity was also increased in it.<BR>Intestinal metaplasia and small bowel were identical morphologically and histochemically. However, the pathogenesis of intestinal metaplasia remains to be solved.
