Centropyge multicolor is described from the Marshall Islands and Tahiti.It is white dorsally on the body, becoming yellow on the caudal peduncle and fin;the lower head and thorax are yellow, shading through orange to brown on abdomen and lower posterior part of body;there are alternating bars of black and bright blue on the nape. C.aurantius is described from Samoa.It is distinctive in its deep body (depth about 1.7 in SL), pelvic fins which reach to soft portion of anal fin, fine serrations on preopercle and preorbital, and its predominately orange color with irregular dark bars.
