• Some ichthyologists of recent years in Japan have described the number of anal fin rays of the salmonoid fish, <I>Salangichthys microdon</I> as 14-20 or 16-20.However, the actual number observed for the fish caught in Takahashi Estuary of Okayama Prefecture and the northern Ise Bay was 24-29, agreeing well with the range given by the authors of former years including the original description (Bleeker, 1860).
