<I>Hypomesus olidus</I> (PALLAS) inhabiting a lake called Tanegaike which is located in Fukube Village, Iwami, Tottori Pref. are found parasitized by a species of nematode parasite. Investigations about the parasite were carried out, and the results are summairized below.<BR>1. The parasite is parasitic to the surface of the liver or mesenterium or gonad of the fish, and when the infestation is heavy, the host fish shows somewhat abnormal swelling of the abdomen. When one presses the swollen abdomen, the parasites may be extruded from the genital pore of the host fish.<BR>2. The rate of infection is higher in two or three year old fish than in one year old fish, and also the numbers of the parasites infesting one fish are larger in two or three year old fish than in one year old fish. But there was no significant difference in these respects between the male and the female (see Table 1 and 2).<BR>3. The significant difference of W/L3×1000 was not proved between non-infected fish and infected fish (see Table 3).<BR>4. Of 174 specimens of the parasites obtained from 23 infected fishes which were collected on March 5, 1951, almost all of them were immature, and only 3 gravid females were found out.<BR>The youngest specimens were about 7.0-10.0mm in body length and 0.060-0.065mm in body breadth. The vulvar opening is seen in the specimens of these sizes. The vulva is situated at about 1/3 of body length from the tail end. The male was not found in the above stated specimens.<BR>5. The parasite is referable to <I>Philometra. opsalichthydis</I> YAMAGUTI, 1935 (see Fig.1, 1-4 and Table 4).
