The compound known as 11CaO·7Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>·CaF<SUB>2</SUB> or C<SUB>11</SUB>A<SUB>7</SUB>·CaF<SUB>2</SUB> has been synthesized at various temperatures, since Jeeveratnam et al<SUP>1) </SUP> prepared as the fluorinated analogue of 12 CaO·7Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>·Authors compared the hydration behavior of C<SUB>11</SUB>A<SUB>7</SUB>·CaF<SUB>2</SUB> synthesized by burning at 850°C (L-type) and 1250°C (H-type).<BR>C<SUB>11</SUB>A<SUB>7</SUB>·CaF<SUB>2</SUB> was prepared from the stoichometric mixture of guaranteed reagents of calcium carbonate, aluminium hydroxide and calcium fluoride. Synthesized C<SUB>11</SUB>A<SUB>7</SUB>·CaF<SUB>2</SUB> was considered to be apure judging from powder X-ray diffraction pattern. The results were summarized as follows.<BR>1) Pure C<SUB>11</SUB>A<SUB>7</SUB>·CaF<SUB>2</SUB> can be synthesized at the burning temperature between 850°C and 1500°C.<BR>2) Addition of C<SUB>11</SUB>A<SUB>7</SUB>·CaF<SUB>2</SUB> and CaSO<SUB>4</SUB> accelerates the setting of ordinary Portland cement.<BR>3) The dissolution rate of L-type is faster than H-type, because of its larger specific surface area.
