When collcoidal calcium carbonate is precipitated by the reaction between milky lime and carbon dioxide gas, the viscosity of the slurry as reaction product increases at early time of reaction.<BR>Studies were made to investigate the above phenomena by mesuring sedimentation volume of reacting milky lime and by electron microscope observation.<BR>It was apparent that the reason of increasing viscosity is due to the formation of chain or fiberlike colloidal particle and colloidal calcium carbonate is produced from this colloidal particle.
