An autogenic bone graft was used for enforcement of the deficient acetabular floor in 42 cemented total hip arthroplasties. To prevent cement leakage between or around the bone grafts, fibrin glue was used. Cement leakage was found in 12 of 24 arthroplasties without fibrin glue, and in 2 of 18 with fibrin glue (p<0.01) . In 7 of 8 hips with remarkable graft resorption, leakage was detected. Cement protruding between a graft and the acetabular floor would thus appear to be a factor of graft viability, and fibrin glue appears effective in preventing undesired cement leakage.
