The effect of fine grinding of additives was investigated. The additives used were ground to submicron particles by ball milling with small PSZ balls (∅2mm) prior to mixing with the matrix powder(BaTiO3). Slurry prepared from the matrix powder and the additives were sheeted with a doctor blade system. The microstructures of the green and sintered body were analyzed by SEM, XMA, and analyzer. XMA analysis showed that an increase in grinding time resulted in an increasing dispersibility of the additives. Fine grinding of the additives cause an improvement in sheet formation and subsequent sintering. An increase in grinding time resulted in a decreasing porosity of the green sheet, an increasing density, and the permitivity of the sintered body.
