A new type of electron beam magnetometer tube was designed and constructed for measuring magnetic field strength. An electron beam sheet from the cathode runs to the anode which is separated into two parts by a narrow slit. If placed in the magnetic field to be measured, the electron beam deflects so as to increase one anode current and decrease another. The size of this magnetometer is similar to that of an ordinary ST-tube and the minimum measurable space is 15mm distant. Average sensitivity obtained by using this magnetometer is of 6 V/oersted and has a good linearity, and its value can be varied by changing the cathode current. The zero point drift due to the change of cathode emission is of about ±0.01 oersted. Although only several applications of this magnetometer are described in this paper, many other applications would be available.
