Among 166 cases of roentgenographically occult lung cancer, 24 cases (14.5%) of extrapulmonary malignancy were encountered. Twenty-seven primary lesions were diagnosed in these 24 cases. The most common sites of extrapulmonary lesion were the stomach (6 lesions in 6 cases) and the esophagus (6 lesions in 5 cases), followed by trachea (5 lesions in 4 cases), colon (3 cases), acute myelocytic leukemia (2 cases). Furthermore, among these 24 cases, 7 cases (29.2%) had double primary lung cancers.<BR>Nine patients died due to extrapulmonary malignancies. Thus, to improve the prognosis of roentgenographically occult lung cancer, more attention should be paid to the early diagnosis and aggressive treatment of extrapulmonary malignancies.
