An effort was made to outline and to standardize the cytological diagnosis of the lung cancer.<BR>Grouping, shape, staining of the cells, nucleus and nucleoles were examined. The ratio of nucleus to cytoplasm was also compared on a large group (over 1, 000 cases) of proven lung cancer.<BR>The characteristics of each cell type;squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, large cell anaplastic carcinoma and small cell anaplastic carcinoma, were illustrated, and the summary of these were shown on the table and the microphotography.
