In this study, we used ambulatory blood pressure monitoring to study the relationship between the nocturnal blood pressure (BP) pattern and clinical parameters, especially risk factors for atherosclerosis and dialysisrelated factors. The patients were divided into two groups according to the magnitude of the nocturnal fall in BP: dippers and non-dippers. The groups were similar in gender, age, duration of hernodialysis, body mass index, class and number of antihypertensive drugs used per patient. Eleven of 20 patients (55%) showed a nondipper pattern. Non-dippers showed significantly lower hematocrit than dippers (28±3% vs 32±2%, p<0.01). In non-dippers, high pulse pressure (PP≥85mmHg) and low protein intake (PCR<0.9g/kg/day) were significantly more frequent.
