Mycotic Disease of Juvenile Red Sea Bream, Pagrus major, Caused by Scytalidium infestans

Pathological and mycological studies were performed on a fungal disease in juvenile red sea bream (<I>Pagrus major</I>) . Histopathologically, numerous, frequently septate fungal hyphae were observed in the lesions of dermal and muscular layers with apparent granulomatous inflammation while the hyphae did not penetrate into the internal organs. Histopathological features suggested that the organism should be classified as dematiaceous fungi. From the morphological characteristics, the isolated fungi were identified as <I>Scytalidium infestans</I>.
