The rearing tests were conducted with wild young fishes of <I>Cottus kazika</I> and <I>Tyachideymus fasciatus</I> to understand the effects of water temperature on growth and survival rate. In case of <I>C. kazika</I>, both the growth and survival rate at 20°C were higher than those at 24°C and 27°C. The growth at 27°C was the lowest and more than 50% of fish died within 5 days. In case of <I>T. fasciatus</I>, the survival rates were more than 90% at all the three temperatures (20, 24 and 28°C) examined. The growth at 20°C and 24°C were better than it at 28°C.
