The white-spotted conger Conger myriaster is one of the most important fish species caught by the small trawl fishery in Harima-Nada, Seto Inland Sea. In this study, juvenile fish were reared experimentally in a 500-L round tank and fed with a commercial diet over one year. The temperature of the rearing water throughout the experimental period ranged from 6.7 to 27.6°C. The fish was 239mm (average total length) and 15.4g (average body weight) at the beginning of the experiment. They grew to 325mm and 49.6g at Day 91, and reached to 422mm and 115.6g at Day 346. The fish showed little growth when the temperature of the rearing water was either below 9°C or above 25°C. Survival rate for the whole experimental period was 82%. We concluded that the white-spotted conger can be reared artificially on a commercial diet.
