Daily food ration of harpacticoid copepods <I>Tigriopius japonicus</I> (average weight=30.2μg) by three different stages of young black porgy <I>Acanthopagrus schlegeli</I> (average total length=8.5, 11.4, and 15.0mm) was quantified. Number of <I>T. japonicus</I> in culture was estimated by determining number of <I>T. japonicus.</I> per microgram. Food ration was determined from count estimates of <I>T, japonicus</I> at the start and end of a 24 hour period. Relationship between the number of <I>T. japonicus</I> (f) in the digestive tract and fish total length (L) was quantified as, f=0.0832XL<SUP>2.834</SUP>. The relationship between daily food ration (in number) (F) and fish total length (L) was calculated as, F=0.0364XL<SUP>3.778</SUP>. From these results, 2.43×10<SUP>9</SUP> <I>T. japonicus</I> are required to produce one million juvenile (13.0mm) from larvae (7.0mm) over a period of 10 days.
